The Full Story

Why I Started Settle and Snooze

My journey into sleep consultancy wasn’t something I ever planned. As a qualified paediatric nurse, I thought I understood sleep well enough , until I became a mother. The reality of sleep with a baby turned out to be far more complicated than I had imagined.

For me, sleep wasn’t just a “nice to have”, it was essential to my health. Living with epilepsy meant that chronic sleep deprivation wasn’t just exhausting; it was a genuine threat to my well-being. But even knowing how important sleep was, I couldn’t bring myself to leave my baby to cry alone. I wanted a solution that respected both her needs and mine.

I also felt the weight of judgement the assumption that I “should”  know how to get my baby to sleep better, simply because of my professional background. That pressure only deepened my resolve to seek real answers.

So I educated myself properly. I completed formal training to become a qualified sleep practitioner, and what I learned opened my eyes to an entirely new world of evidence-based, compassionate approaches to sleep  approaches that respect the needs of both parents and children.

From Personal Struggle to Professional Passion

What started as a mission to help my own family has grown into something much bigger: a passion for helping others. This work is personal to me. I understand the overwhelm, the confusion, and the vulnerability that come with sleep deprivation  especially when combined with the noise of conflicting advice and judgement.

My approach is about meeting families where they are, offering support that feels aligned with their values, instincts, and unique circumstances.

What I Believe About Sleep Support

Let’s clear up a few common misconceptions:

  • Sleep training is not just “cry it out.” There are many gentle, responsive approaches, tailored to different children and parenting styles.

  • It’s not only for babies. I work with toddlers, children, and teenagers who struggle with sleep for a wide range of reasons.

  • Good sleep benefits the whole family. Supporting healthy sleep isn’t just about your child — it’s about the well-being of everyone in the household.

  • There’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Every child, every parent, and every situation is different. That’s why individualised, compassionate support matters

Why I Do This Work

I help families because I’ve been there. I’ve felt the exhaustion, the self-doubt, the pressure to “figure it out.” I know there’s a kinder, more balanced path to better sleep, one that doesn’t force you to choose between your child’s emotional needs and your own health and well-being.

There is a middle ground. There are solutions that honour your instincts, your values, and your child’s unique needs.

Let’s work together to find your family’s way forward , no judgement, no pressure, just understanding and support.
