DBS and Safeguarding

Safeguarding Statement

At Settle and Snooze the safety and wellbeing of all children and vulnerable individuals is of the highest priority. As an NMC-registered nurse and trained Sleep Practitioner, I am committed to upholding the principles and practices of safeguarding in accordance with current UK legislation and guidance, including but not limited to:

  • The Children Act 1989 and 2004

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children (HM Government)

  • The Care Act 2014

  • Keeping Children Safe in Education (where relevant)

My Commitment to Safeguarding Includes:

  • Promoting a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all families I work with.

  • Remaining vigilant to signs of potential abuse or neglect and knowing how to respond appropriately.

  • Reporting safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately to the relevant authorities if I believe a child or vulnerable adult is at risk of harm.

  • Maintaining confidentiality in line with data protection and safeguarding responsibilities — while recognising that safeguarding concerns override confidentiality.

  • Ensuring that all work carried out with families places the welfare of the child or vulnerable adult at the centre of the consultation process.

  • Acting in accordance with the NMC Code and other professional safeguarding standards.

Parental Responsibility

Parents and carers hold primary responsibility for the care and wellbeing of their child(ren). My role is to offer support and guidance regarding sleep routines and strategies. If, during my work, I become concerned about the safety or welfare of a child or vulnerable adult, I am professionally and legally obligated to act in line with safeguarding protocols.

Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certification

As part of my professional commitment to safeguarding and working safely with children and families, I hold an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate, which confirms that I have undergone the appropriate background checks required for working with children and vulnerable individuals in the UK.

My DBS certification supports my responsibilities as both an NMC-registered nurse and a trained Sleep Practitioner, ensuring that I meet high standards of trust, safety, and professional conduct.

Parents and carers can feel confident that I work in accordance with safeguarding legislation and ethical guidelines when delivering sleep support services. A copy of my DBS certificate can be made available upon request for verification.
